The statue sits in the north east corner of the church yard and is available to view 24/7 but can also be viewed from outside the church grounds. With the church yard being accessible 24/7, vagrants tend to sleep here at night.
A stylised, featureless, figure sits hunched and dejected, but possibly sheltered by a large fleshy leaf-form growing on a stem, behind and hanging over it. The sculpture belongs to St Botolph's church and it is said to have been inspired by the homeless people who habitually sit under the wall of the church yard.
The plaque at the base of the statue reads:
"Sanctuary / by / Naomi Blake / 1985 / To all victims of oppression".
