This prominent rock wall runs parallel to the Icefields Parkway 93, and there is a wide pull-off parking area provided, so that visitors to Banff National Park can stop and enjoy the Weeping Wall. (The parking area is large enough for RVs, and there is a restroom). Once parked, carefully cross the Icefield Parkway to reach the waterfall. The waterfall has no trail since it is a vertical wall. The best view is actually from the parking lot. (The coordinates at top of page are the waterfall).
The Weeping Wall can be quite spectacular, depending upon the season; in the winter, it can be covered with sheets of ice and park visitors will stop to watch climbers navigating the ice-covered wall. When spring rains cause enough moisture to be available, the wall will weep with water, some of it falling in streams. The wall is about 980 feet high, and the weeping portion is about 1000 feet wide. It is a segmented waterfall.
Driving instructions:
FROM BANFF OR GOLDEN: Starting at Trans-Canada Highway 1 & Highway 93 Icefields Parkway, from the interchange you will need to head northwest on Icefields Pkwy 93 about 63.4 miles (Promenade des Glaciers 102km), and just before you get to the Big Bend Hill, you can see the high rock wall on your immediate right (to the east), and the pull-out/parking lot is on the left (west).
FROM JASPER, start at Icefields Parkway Highway 93 & Yellowhead Highway 16, and you will drive south for about 77 miles (124.2km) through the Jasper National Park, and into Banff National Park. As you are driving to the bottom of Big Bend Hill (past the "trail of wonders"), the landscape will flatten out to the level of the river bed you can see the high rock wall on your immediate left (to the east), and the pull-out/parking lot is on the right (west).
