As you drive into town from the east you meet this miner head on. Walking with a purpose, he portrays the men from many country's that came to the cooper country in search of a better life. The statue is in excellent condition and appears to be well cared for, with no blemishes or deterioration noticeable. It serves as a worthy bridge between Michigan Tech, a college founded on mining, and Houghton, a town founded on mining.
