Lethes (name of a mythical river, whose waters had the magical power to erase the memory of the souls setbacks and hardships of life).

The building that today is known as Teatro Lethes (Lethes Theatre) began as a Jesuit college - College of Greater Santiago, founded by the then Bishop of the Algarve Fernando Martins Mascarenhas, "there to teach the letters, which license was granted by Charter d'El Rei D. The following is a real testify from Fernanda Soares, female, 49 years, and born in Faro:

It is a dancer who hanged himself there for years and that appears. She appeared to someone, a colleague and a lady who worked there. At least they went out there to run out of there fast, (...) and steps were heard, more recently they stopped beeing heard, but there was a time when steps were heard. All was silent, there is no one in the theater Lethes and the bottom is the Red Cross, and if you have everything in silence, in the middle of the night you could hear footsteps! So we really come to know it really was! It is a legend, and is true, it is no longer of my time is not it?
