Established in 1859, the cemetery sits in a red pine forest, that now is mostly overgrown. Markers include iron crosses, older wooden markers and a zinc marker, as well as modern granite markers. Victims of several long ago mine accidents are buried in this cemetery, the land for which was donated to the village by the Eagle Harbor Mining Company. Burials number approximately 300.

The decorative iron sign still stands over the entrance. Two tall obelisks are located on either side of the cemetery road just inside this entrance. They bear the name Kingston. Charles Kingston was a major contractor for the Central Mine, one of several in the area. With the heavy overgrowth many of the markers are partially obscured.

Sources of information on this cemetery include Keweenaw free guide and find a grave.
