The St Peter statue was sculpted by Giuseppe De Fabris in 1838-40 and stands 5.55m in height, on a pedestal 4.91m high. In 1938 emitted Vatican Post (Posta Aerea Vaticana) a serie of stamps with various artistic object. One of them depicts famous statue of St Peter located together with statue of St Paul in front of Basilica.
One can see that author of the stamp used a small piece of artistic license, when he added to the picture part of Basilica's Cupola, which is not visible from the angle in reality.
