Die „Königliche Villa“ Schloss Linderhof in der oberbayerischen Gemeinde Ettal im südlichen Bayern ist ein Schloss des bayrischen Königs Ludwig II.. Es wurde in mehreren Bauabschnitten von 1869 bis 1886 errichtet. Das kleine Schloss entstand anstelle des so genannten Königshäuschens seines Vaters Max II., das 1873 auf einen Platz ca. 200 m westlich des heutigen Schlosses übertragen wurde.
Schloss Linderhof ist das kleinste der drei Schlösser Ludwigs II. und das einzige, das noch zu seinen Lebzeiten vollendet wurde. Linderhof gilt als das Lieblingsschloss des sogenannten Märchenkönigs, in dem er sich mit großem Abstand am häufigsten aufhielt. Das Schloss und die Gartenanlagen sind für Besucher zugänglich. 2009 kamen 451.000 Besucher.

The "Royal Villa" Linderhof Castle in the in southern Bavaria village Ettal is a castle of the Bavarian King Ludwig II. It was built in several phases from 1869 to 1886. The small castle was built in place of the so-called cottage of his father King Maximilian II.
Schloss Linderhof is the smallest of the three castles of Ludwig II and the only one that has yet to be completed in his lifetime. Linderhof Castle is considered the favorite of so-called king fairy tale in which he remained by far the most common. The castle and gardens are open to visitors. 2009 attracted 451 000 visitors.
