So new there isn't even a sign on the door, this museum celebrates conversion of the nearby Kingsford Ford wooden body plant into a WW II glider plant and the gliders produced there.

Opened in July 2011, this museum features one of the handful of CG-4A gliders still in existence. Available as a separate admission, or in combinations with the Cornish Pump and Heritage Museums, this museum has been years in the making. As of early August 2011 it contains a fully restored CG-4A glider as well as many displays on the various components that went into the assembly of these essential, but one time use war machines.

With an open door, the visitor can peer into the interior of the glider to better understand how it was made and how it operated. There is also an early Ford truck and car to complete the tie in to the Ford plant. Two additional hand built planes from the local area complete the large items on display. Around the out side wall are the displays showing the components that made up the gliders, as well as an outstanding collection of U.S. military uniforms from the Civil War to the present.

It is a museum where the visitor learns that small towns in out of the way places contributed just as much to winning WW II as did the giant manufacturing plants in the big cities. For anyone passing through Iron Mountain, it is a worth while stop if they are interested in what went into winning WW II.
