We started our hike from our travel trailer. We made our way toward the Montana border. When you get there you can look over some wetlands that are used by sandhill cranes and trumpeter swans for breeding. This area is closed from May 1st to July 31st. Along the way you can also see where the first Northwest Mounted Police Outpost was established. If windy hang onto your belongings as when you go over the highest elevation it can get very strong. Then you head down to Police Lake and get into the trees. When you get to the lake you can also hike around the lake and use the bridge to get to the island or you can head back to the campgrounds. You can also sit by the lake and rest a while. The day we did this hike the wind was howling and very cloudy but we still enjoy doing this hike. The circular hike is about 5kms(3 miles).
