With an annual attendance exceeding 500,000 the National Cherry Festival is located in the heart of Michigan's cherry growing country. Beginning on the first Saturday in July, this eight day festival has entertainment, food, contests, prizes, rides, tours, a beauty pageant, parades, and cherries in more ways than you can count.
Open from 9 A.M. to 11 P.M., a sampling of activities includes beach volleyball tournaments, kids' bubble gum blowing, both kids and adult cherry pie eating contests, cherry farm tours, a music stage featuring nationally acclaimed entertainers, midway rides, and a cherry spitting contest. There are many, many more things going on, so many that it takes more than a single day to see and do them all. Plus there are many vendor tents where all things cherry can be purchased. Admission to the festival is free but there is a charge for some events.
For more information, check the the festival website which is packed with information.
