This park is a combination of many things. It has hiking trail, a football stadium for the local high school, two softball/baseball complexes with full amenities, an enclosed complex/meeting center, a memorial park area (which is where the photos were taken), an outdoor fitness center, a children's playground. It's ALL there, in one big 212 acre park.

The existing hiking trail is currently 3.2 miles. There are plans to extend the hiking trail to 10 miles. While not specifically marked for it, the trail is open to both hiking and bicycling, so please be aware of the other mode of transportation, regardless how you traverse the trail.

The Coordinates given are what I consider to be the heart of the park, however, may not be the geographical center. There is a tribute to the local veterans that paid the ultimate price in the form of five monuments starting with WWI up to the Gulf War, and a monument to the Confederate heroes donated by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1923.

I explored only a few short segments of the trail, and while it appears to be less maintained than some I've been on (more natural), it is well enough maintained to easily follow. There is certainly some poison ivy near and around the trail for those intending to go geocaching, so take appropriate measures if allergies are an issue.

There's an enormous amount of parking because of the proximity of the stadium and softball/baseball facilities. No matter what part of the park you wish to visit, there should be no problem finding a parking place.

There is a security officer in the park as well, and he does a great job of patrolling, so there is no issue with safety.
