This is the only fire station in the City of Coachella which was incorporated in 1946 and began contracting with the Riverside County Fire Department for fire and emergency services in 1990. The City has a population of 24,282 and is 32 square miles.

Although Riverside County Fire Department list the equipment here as only 1 City Paramedic Assessment Engine, the Coachella website says two type 1 paramedic assessment engines.

Staff is eighteen full time career personnel, 10 volunteer firefighters and 10 Explorer cadets.
For 2009, a total of 1697 calls included 41 structure fires, 15 commercial structure fires, 118 refuse/vegetation/ misc. fires, 88 ringing alarms, 1212 medical responses, 121 traffic collisions, 33 cover assignments, and 69 not otherwise classified/public assist calls.
