The Park began its life as a timber plantation but evolved intoa a natural semi-evergreen forest. It now supports several different kinds of wildlife, and serves as a watershed for the region. The canopy is multi-storyed and the trees mostly deciduous, although the under canopy trees are predominantely evergreen. Two forest villages inhabited by Khasi people. Three designated forest trails are available in the park: a half hour trail, a one hour trail and a three hour trail.
