Morgantown sits in the vicinity of 3 Indian paths. The early settlers and traders used these trail also. The town was laid out on land owned by Col. Jacob Morgan. With the town being close to the Charcoal iron furnaces and forges it grew. Morgantown served these forges and furnaces.

Over the next 200 years they have had their ups and downs. Today, it still connects to the whole state. The Pennsylvania Turnpike has an exit here.
