This lead font, one of only 30 in the country, was re-discovered back in the 1920s after the plaster that covered it was damaged. It is believed it was covered in plaster some centuries before to stop the theft of it to make bullets.

The font is supported on a fine stone plinth with supporting pillars in each corner. The font and stone stand are both dated from the 12th century.
