This building was constructed in March 1863 for the use as a warehouse by Federal forces occupying Smithland. Specifically it was used for the Commissary Department responsible for feeding the Army.

The building was also used as ahospital during the way. After the ware it was used as a Masonic Hall. This building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
