As you drive on Interstate 15 in the south end of the Salt Lake Valley you can see a fighter plane elevated on a pole in front of the Utah Air National Guard building. No need to get into the security to see the display.

There is a plaque at the base of the pole which reads:

The F-86 Sabre was first used in the Korean War. The F-86'S main opponent during the war was the MIG 15. The MIG 15 had a greater operational ceiling, greater acceleration in a dive, a tighter turning radius, and could out climb the F-86 Saber. Despite these differences the F-86 accounted for 792 of the 900 aerial victories for the U.S. Air Force. The F-86 was a very versatile fighter jet. It has been used as an all weather interceptor, interceptor fighter bomber, and the first U.S. Air Force airplane interceptor version, to have all-rocket armorment.
