To honor the town's original settlers on its 150th year of existence the Smith family donated a sculpture of a blacksmith. The blacksmith monument has a plaque, it reads:

Dedicated July, 1999
Donated by the families of Lauritz, Mary and Hannah Smith
Sculpted by Dennis Smith of his Great-great Grandfather
