Beautiful bronze of a period ice skating teacher, or maybe a the child's mother, offering encouragement to a novice skater.
What's really nice about this sculpture is that the artist did not try to smooth the skin of the statue. When the sculpture was being created in clay Combe-Johnson left the tool marks and even an occasional fingerprint in the clay before it was cast. I thought it was a nice touch that the artist used aluminum for the skates, it adds a little contrast to the bronze.
One funny thing about the statue of the woman is her skirt is hollow underneath. I've seen several photos of men with their hands up her skirt.
