Castillo de Luna (Luna Castle) is a fortress located in the Spanish city of Rota in Andalucia.
It has a rectangular plant bult around a central "patio" in gotic style.
It´s possible that the castle stands in the same place as a muslim fortress. The city was conquered from the muslims in 1264 and since then it has been property of the Rota territory.
During the Ponce de Leon government the castle was the governor´s house untill 1750.
In 1909 the Marquis of San Marcial bough it for 15000 pesetas and used it as a summer residence making important reforms to the building. In 1943 it was sold to José León de Carranza for 200000 pesetas and transformed in a College (Colegio de San Ramon) and hospital (Hospital de San Jose). The building was abandoned in 1982 and finally, in 1987, the city hall, after years of abandon bought it and restaured it. In 1999 it became the city hall building.
