A new market was constructed on the site, but on a larger scale, which involved occupying more land and removing houses on the east and west sides so as to form new streets. The first stone of the new Leadenhall Market, designed by Sir Horace Jones, the City architect, was laid on 28 June 1881.

The market is often used for filming and was Diagon Alley in one of the Harry Potter films.
Year of construction: 1881
