The large steel building is the current Lloyd's building completed in 1986. The entrance to the 1925 building has been retained and it is to that building that the date refers. The date stone is on the front of the building near the war memorials.

This stome was laid by His Majesty King George V on the twenty third day of May MDCCCCXXV the sixteenth year of His Majesty's reign her Majesty Queen Mary being present.
