Most of the old Lloyd's Building was knocked down to make way for the modern offices that still house Lloyd's. Lloyd's of London is known worldwide due to its involvement with the insurance market.

The facade of the old building has been retained and built in to the new building and it could be argued that the portland stone facade was too good to be destroyed. World War I & II memorials, to the Lloyd's staff that gave their lives, are built into the facade and were unveiled a few years ago. The original cornerstones still remain.
