Jen osm kilometru od Turnova, na Malé Skále, se na strmém útesu nad rekou Jizerou tycí skalní hrad Vranov, dnes známý spíše jako Pantheon. S délkou témer 400 metru je považován za nejkomplikovanejší skalní hrad v Cechách.

Hrad Vranov byl založen v patnáctém století jako gotická pevnost a ve své historii vystrídal celou radu pánu – Vartemberky, Smirické i Valdštejny. Jeden z jeho majitelu, František Zachariáš Römisch, jej po roce 1802 nechal prestavet na Pantheon – památník slavných tehdejší doby. Do pískovcového skalního masivu vestavel nejen známý letohrádek ve tvaru kaple, ale i desítky pomníku a pametních desek. Vranov – Pantheon se tak stal unikátním spojením zrícenin stredovekého hradu s duchem evropského romantismu 19. století.

Znacený prohlídkový okruh Vás zavede témer do všech koutu hradu. Po úzkém skalním schodišti mužete také vystoupat na nejvyšší bod pískovcového útesu s úchvatným výhledem do okolí – na Vež u Kríže.

Just eight miles from Turnov at Malá Skála, on a steep cliff rises above the river Jizera rock castle Vranov, today better known as the Pantheon. With a length of nearly 400 meters is considered the most complicated rock castle in Bohemia.

Vranov Castle was founded in the fifteenth century as a Gothic fortress and its history had many masters - Vartemberks, Smirická and Wallenstein. One of its owners, Zachary Francis Römisch, in 1802 after it had rebuilt the Pantheon - the famous monument of the time. The massive sandstone rock known not only built a summerhouse in the shape of the chapel, but also dozens of memorials and commemorative plaques. Vranov - Pantheon became a unique combination of ruins of a medieval castle with the spirit of European Romanticism 19th century.

Labeled guided tour takes you into almost every corner of the castle. After a rocky narrow staircase, you can also climb the highest point of a sandstone cliff with a breathtaking view of the surroundings - the Tower of the Cross.
