A Guide to Chicago's Public Sculpture by Bach indicates the statue was provided by the hospital's architects, Belli and Belli, in 1964. An unidentified newspaper clipping in Smithsonian files states that the work was shipped from Carrara, Italy.
Sculpture: approx. 12 x 4 x 3 ft.; Base: approx. 6 1/2 in. x 30 in. x 30 in. (12,125 lbs.).
