From Wikipedia:

"USS Montrose (APA-212) was a Haskell class attack transport that saw service with the US Navy in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War."

The ship was decommission November 2, 1969. Following the ship's decommissioning the bell was presented to the City of Montrose, Colorado, the namesake for the ship.
