On the moring of the 20th September 1858 the Emperor Franz Josef of Austria, accompanied by his
Wife Sisi and the court, entered for the first time his new Danube yacht "Adler".

The water level had somewhat lifted, the weather was beautiful and the Emperor in a good mood. Franz Josef took his ship under inspection. The crew explained all the details and the Emperor showed great interest in the ship's service.
Until Grein the ride was uneventful.

After the passage of the Struden tract, at the Hausstein the ship was aground and was given a vigorous push. In a closer examination it was found that the ship took strong water in the back and so it was decided
to land the ship on the opposite side from St. Nikola, at the still existing sand bank "Seiler am Sand".

Detailed information at this Link .

The accident may have been the reason that in the same year the regulatory work were advanced faster in the vortex and swirl .

The carved inscription in the stone tablet above the chapel reported following:

Kaiser Franz Josef

befreite die Schifffahrt von den Gefahren im

Donau-Wirbel

durch Sprengung der Hausstein Felseninsel

1853 – 1866
