Del City lies three miles east of Oklahoma City. It was founded as a bedroom community to Oklahoma City by builder, George Epperly, who purchased the 160 acres and named the area Del City after his daughter, Delphinia. He planned to build 50 homes here, but by 1948, there were 582 new homes, 75% built by Epperly. The town was incorporated after a vote of the citizens in 1948.

This is a one-room wood building, approximately 12 x 14 feet. It has a single wooden door and a window on the south and east walls, and has a pitched, shingled roof. This was City Hall from 1948-1950. It is on display at Patriot Park.

Adjacent to Tinker Air Force Base, Del City was a mecca for returning World War II soldiers, and continues to have a high military presence. Its population in 2006 was 21,904.

The current City Hall is about a mile west of this location at 3701 S. E. 15th Street. Del City is governed by a Mayor, City Manager and a four-man City Council, with Commissioners of Planning, and Parks & Recreation.
