This is the start of Segment 6 (or end of segment 5) of the Colorado Trail. This trailhead has ample parking for up to 50 vehicles and breath-taking views. The register is located at 10.000' (3,048 km) above sea level! Dogs are allowed, but must be on a leash. There are several geocaches in the vicinity.

The trail is best used in the short summer months. The area is usually cool in the mornings and evenings, often with afternoon rain showers. This is a great place to visit during the fall when the aspen tress change color. There are no services at this trailhead (no water, no rest rooms, no food).

Trail allowances or restrictions:
This is a high country trail traversing a fragile mountainous ecosystem. STAY ON THE TRAIL as severe damage can easily be done by 'taking shortcuts.' There are many hikers on this trail close to the summit of Kenosha. As you gain distance, the number of hikers diminish. Hikers have right of way; mountain bakers are supposed to yield. This is an easily accessible area for a hike above 10,000' (3,048 m). Prepare for sudden changes in weather. The air is thinner at this altitude-plan more time until acclimated. The area boasts stunning fall colors when the aspen leaves change color. Do not rely on cell phone service in an emergency. Bring ample water and do not drink from the streams since most are infected with giardia (http://www.backpacking-guide.com/bad-backcountry-water.html ).

Trail type: Dirt
