Post about 12 inches high and 2 inches square, painted silver. Stamped U.S. on one side, 154 69 on another. On a square concrete monument which projects an inch. In the southeast quadrant of section 26, Township 160 N, Range 27 W.
The International Boundary Commission set REF MON 154 in 1918 at the head of Long Sault Rapids, near station LEFT (destroyed in 1947). In 1969, a survey party working on behalf of the IBC set REF MON 154 69. There is, or was, a corresponding boundary reference marker 153 across the Rainy River, in Ontario.
