Galena Creek Park is located on the Mt. Rose Scenic Byway and managed by Washoe County Regional Parks & Open Space. Along with the park the area consists of a Visitor Center staffed with vounteers of the Great Basin Institute which provides community outreach, educational and interpretive programming about the natural and cultural history of the region. There is a solar powered weather station, pedestrian & equestrain trails, group & individual picnic sites and a half-mile paved nature trail. Along with the diverse slate of public programs that appeal to all ages the visitors center has a retail shop and restrooms.
