Kanab is a small city of about 3500 people situated in the middle of "The Greatest Earth on Show". The Grand Circle of National Parks surrounds this community.

Kanab is known as "Little Hollywood" because it has been a shooting location for movies and TV shows (predominently Westerns). There are up to a hundred plaques that line both sides of US Highway 89 as it wends its way through town, each plaque memorializing a different individual in the TV or motion picture industry. These include actors, actresses, directors, producers, and even shooting location scouts.
Kanab is less than one day's drive from all of the National Parks on the Grand Circle, several National Monuments, plus a scenic Utah State Park. This leads to the slogan on the welcome sign as you enter Kanab from the north: "The Greatest Earth on Show".
