Satun ("SA-toon") is as far south as you can go in western peninsular Thailand, any further and you are in Malaysia. Satun is one of the four provinces of Thailand that have a muslim majority, something you will notice when you alight in the provincial bus station. Lots of headscarves, no saffron robed Buddhist monks.

The bus station is relatively new, but of a fairly standard design. A front area with ticket counters for various destinations and levels of surface, which opens into a central, rectangular, open waiting area, with bus bays around. There is space for 18 buses here, plus more bays outside the station building. Toilets, folk selling food and drinks. Everything you need before starting on your next journey.

The station is few kilometres to the south of the town centre, on a ring road. A bit of a hike to the town itself. I did not see any tuk tuk drivers or taxis at the station, hopefully, and I would expect that, when buses start to arrive these guys would move in. I visited at a time where there were no buses coming or going, very quiet.
