San Bernardino County is a land of superlatives. It is the largest county in the United States. Earp, California, across the Colorado River from Parker, Arizona, has the dubious distinction of being the most isolated community from its county seat (over 220 miles as the crow flies).

If San Bernardino County suddenly became the 51st state in the Union, it would rank 42nd in size, nine states being smaller in size. It would be larger than the four smallest states combined!!

If San Bernardino County seceeded from the Union and declared itself an independent country, it would rank 127th in size and would be larger than 109 other countries today.
