This is a nice memorial that was unveiled on 8th December 1920. The sculptor was Messrs Wright and Son (Bradford).

There is plenty of places to park nearby on the road.

The monument is in the United Kingdom National Inventory of War Memorials under reference 28629

The memorial was subsequently amended to honour the men of Oakenshaw who died in the 2nd World War, and then later still for a death in Aden in 1967.

The inscription reads

TO THE GLORY OF GOD
IN GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE OF
THE SERVICES AND
SACRIFICES RENDERED
BY THE MEN OF
OAKENSHAW-CUM-WOODLANDS
IN THE GREAT WAR
1914 - 1918
THIS MEMORIAL WAS ERECTED
BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION
AND WAS UNVEILED ON
DECEMBER 18TH 1920
"GIVE PEACE TO THOSE WHO
BROUGHT US PEACE"

WITH THESE ALSO ARE REMEMBERED
THE MEN OF THE WORLD WAR
1939 - 1945

This followed by a list of 6 names for the 2nd World War
and underneath of the 1 name relating to Aden 1967.

The list of the 46 deaths from the 1st World War are listed on the 2 side panels. As usual the list of names from this war is far longer than those that died in the 2nd World War.
