The American Legion Post 290 erected the Veterans Memorial in front of the Stafford County Courthouse in 1985. The granite obelisk commemorates veterans of Stafford County, VA who have defended Virginia and the United States.

The monument stands at the intersection of Rt. 1 and Courthouse Rd. (Rt. 630).
