Krabi town is a jump off point to any number of small tourist islands in Krabi province, and other destinations up and down the Krabi River. As such, the main pier of the town, the 'Kong Ka Pier', is of a fair size, and usually has several large 'tourist' boats docked.

The pier is situated near the town centre, easily reached via public transport (the red tuk tuk service). There is a open air restaurant/street food outside the pier. There is a pier building on the western side of the pier area. Tickets for a variety of destinations can be purchased inside. Tickets and bookings can also be made with any of the large number of booking agencies in town. As well as tourist trips there are a sizeable number of smaller dragon boats conveying locals along the river. There is also a bevy of motor bike taxi drivers in the pier carpark.

One local attraction is a one hour trip on the river in a dragon boat (small open boat). For 300 baht one can see caves, some aquatic life and relax (with a loud motor in the background) on the river. You will be quoted 400 baht, maybe 500, and even directed to look at an 'official' list of prices, but 300 baht is a fair price for a dragon boat for one hour (maybe more if there is a group). The waymark location is the 'passenger port' sign (in gallery).
