The is the most easterly Thames Clipper ferry pier on the River Thames. The ferry service tends to operate mainly during the morning and evening rush hours to get local commuters to work and home again. Ferries run into central London with the most westerly pier being at Westminster. The ferries are high speed catamarans.
The "finger" of the pier is hinged to allow for the rise and fall of the tide. The pier head is hooked on to piles to keep it in place during the rise and fall of the tide.
