NEWTON'S DAYDREAM an interactive audio-kinetic rolling ball sculpture at the Clark Planetarium is entertaining, educational, fun and free. The moving balls through mazes of ramps, slopes, spirals and catapults is enough to amaze anyone of any age. The sculpture is two stories tall, 30' x 36' x 36' and some of the features extend out into the high ceiling area of the planetarium. This unique "Newton’s Daydream," is the most ambitious audio-kinetic rolling ball sculpture ever created by artist George Rhoads.
Two sizes of balls are used in this 30-foot, audio-kinetic ball sculpture at the Clark Planetarium so that the action at the top can be seen by viewers below. The large vertical space allows for some exciting movement, as balls roll down spirals and staircases and fly through mid-air on their journey. This sculpture features an interactive wheel where visitors can affect the pathway of the balls.
