This area is in the northern area of the Peak District National Park. It is an area of open moorland with many footpaths that give easy access for reasonably fit walkers.
This car park is aptly named Surprise View, because it does indeed give a marvellous view over the lower, less wild area in the valley below. The immediate view is of the Longshaw Estate now owned by the National Trust and until 1921 a hunting estate of Lord Rutland.
The nearest town is Hathersage on the A6187.
The map takes the form of an aerial photograph with the public footpaths over lain onto the photo.
If you switch the waymark map to hybrid you should be able to compare the topography and check it's the same.
