Darker shades of red, blue, and green create a more subtle windmill pattern on this gray barn on the north side of town. This is a rare find in a county where barn quilts are scarce, and sighting a barn within this small town is even more unusual. It can be found on the west side of West Street.

This was a surprise find since I hadn’t seen any barn quilts in this part of Iowa. I was checking out some waymarks for the Lincoln Highway when I ran across this gem.
