St. Joseph's is the oldest church building in Oklahoma City.

The cornerstone for St. Joseph's was laid on December 17, 1902 and the church was completed in 1904. In 1905 it became the cathedral for the Oklahoma diocese and remained so until 1925. As the city spread out into the suburbs, another location was selected as the cathedral, and this church building became known as the "Old" Cathedral.
The south-facing main entrance is flanked by two square corner towers. Above the entrance a center tower rises above the roof line, with a shingled steeple and a cross. On each side, buttresses divided tall arched windows with imported stained glass.
Standing near the site of the Murrah Federal Building bombing on April 19, 1995, the church was heavily damaged by the explosion. The church closed for two years while extensive renovation was completed, re-opening on December 1, 1997 to celebrate its restoration.
A cornerstone is located at the southeast corner of the front, knee-high on the entrance porch. It reads:
