The barn was built to house the cows, oxen, goats, sheep and chickens kept by roadhouse to provide fresh food to travelers staying and eating at the roadhouse. The barn was built during the 1920's with log walls and a gambrel roof. In 1984 the State of Alaska did restoration work on the barn and it now houses historical displays.
