This is the Bismarckturm (Bismarck's Tower) of Aachen,
Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.
Bismarck Towers are a unique German monument genre, to honor the
ex-chancellor Otto von Bismarck. Approximately 240 of these towers were
built between the German unification and the National Socialist
takeover, between 1869 and 1934. They were built in various styles, in
various locations across the German Empire, including its colonies in
Papua New Guinea, Chile, Cameroon and Tanzania, as well as areas in
Europe which, at the time, were parts of Germany, but are now part of
other European Countries. Of those 240 about 173 remain.
Architects of these towers include Wilhelm Kreis, who did about fifty,
and Bruno Schmitz. The sculptors include Hugo Lederer and Franz Metzner

Saturday from 08:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Der Aachener Bismarckturm ist einer von 173 noch vorhandenen der
ehemals 240 Bismarcktürmen und Bismarcksäulen, die
zum Andenken an den Gründer des Deutschen Reiches Otto von
Bismarck (1815-1898) weltweit erbaut worden sind.
Das am 22. Juni 1907 eingeweihte Denkmal im Aachener
Waldfriedhof besteht aus Basaltlava und zeigt ein großes B
mit aufgesetzter Krone. Eine Aussichtsplattform ist über einen
Treppenaufgang zu erreichen.
Öffnungszeiten:
Mo.-Fr. von 08:30 - 16:30 Uhr, Sa. von 08:00 -11:45 Uhr
Sonntags geschlossen.
Der Eintritt ist kostenlos.
