The two adjacent provinces of Prachinburi and Nakhon Nayok lie ~80kms to the east of Bangkok. Both are regions of agriculture and light industry. The two are connected by national highway 33, which continues eastwards from this point and terminates on the Cambodian border. The region around the border is open land, with rice farms, and is a fairly busy stretch of road.

There are two large signs stretching across the highway at the border point, welcoming the traveller into each province, though none wishing one a bon voyage upon leaving. Each sign shows pictures of local tourist attractions. There are no restrictions on crossing this border. Thai provinces are the second level of governmental administration, below the national level.
