Virginia City can be superficially toured in just a couple of hours, but to really get the true feel for the history of the town can take several days. Each surviving building in this "ghost town" has its own stories to tell. There are mines to tour, museums to visit, a narrated trolley tour with multiple "hop-on hop-off" stops, and the opportunity to ride a restored narrow-gauge train to and from Gold Hill or even to the outskirts of Carson City. There are restored saloons and gambling parlors, an opera house, and the usual shops to relieve the tourists of their money.
