In Japanese folklore the Shachihoko is an animal with the head of a dragon and the body of a carp. It was often used as the roof ornament on castles, temples, and shrines. The ornament is a charm to guard against fire and ward off disaster. The Hiemji Castle is a nice place to see the Shachihoko.
