The station is now a museum situated immediately beside the Princess Sheila NaGeira Theatre complex. The narrow-gauge railway did not reach Carbonear from Harbour Grace until 1898. The station building dates from about 1917. When the branch line through to Bay de Verde was open in 1913, this larger building was required. Railway operations ceased in 1984. Locomotive 803 sits beside the station.
