Bang Sai is the former capital of the district of Takuapa, in southern Thailand. It is now a small town south of the new capital town, which is named Takuapa. Bang Sai is referred to locally as the 'old town', and clearly there are few new buildings in the town. Some of these old buildings have dates of construction on their facade, here is one. The small building is near the temple of Quan Im, which is a major landmark in the town, and nearly opposite the small post office.
The inscription above the entrance contains both a date and a Chinese name, the latter presumably the first owner. As the name is repeated in Chinese, presumably a Chinese/Thai national. The year given, 2513, is in the Buddhist era, which converts into 1970 Gregorian.
Year of construction: 2513
Full inscription: The Thai text is a name (transliterated) "Sak-un Dang-sar-tarn". Next is the foundation year: 2513. Then Chinese characters, which are presumably the same name, but in Chinese.
