This worn war memorial is situated near to the village sign in Haynes.

The inscription is very worn but we can read the following:
'This flagpole was erected
to commemorate the
....anniversaries of
VE and VJ Days ...19...
and all those from Haynes
who were killed or ......
as a result of war'
The memorial lies in a cobble and brick circle. The area is along the main road of Silver End through the village opposite Forester's Close. It is a small, village green where the village sign also stands. This part of Haynes lies high on a ridge of hills overlooking farmland with Bedford town lying to the north. The Greensand Ridge walk runs through the village.
